About The Role

We are seeking Deckhands to join our team on a seasonal basis during 2026. This is a guest facing position that requires professionalism, enthusiasm and a commitment to safety and service, crucial in delivering exceptional marine tourism experiences to our guests.

Key responsibilities will include
  • Assist the Skipper in operating and navigating the vessel safely and in compliance with marine standards and regulations
  • Ensure clear and accurate communication and relay of instructions between the Skipper and deck crew, especially during whale shark operations
  • Assist with tender operations, managing guest transfers, maintenance activities, vessel refuelling and support vessel departure and docking procedures
  • Assist guests during boarding, briefings and in-water preparations, including managing guest flow safely during water entries and exits and conducting ongoing headcounts while guests are in the water
  • Engage with guests throughout the tour, providing information about wildlife and the environment, while providing proactive assistance to ensure their comfort and enjoyment
  • Assist with serving meals and refreshments, and help to maintain a welcoming, professional atmosphere onboard
  • Participate in daily vessel preparation, cleaning and pack-down including restocking supplies, waste management and refuelling
  • Assist with basic maintenance and report any mechanical or operational issues promptly
  • Assist with the training and mentoring of crew as and when required
  • Promote a strong safety culture by promptly reporting hazards and incidents
About You

As the ideal candidate, you will be passionate about marine tourism and committed to delivering unforgettable guest experiences. You will be a collaborative team member, with a high level of situational awareness and the ability to work calmly under pressure and in fast‑paced, changing environments. You will be confident with public speaking, have a high level of personal presentation and will be capable of completing physical tasks including handling lines, performing emergency response activities including in‑water rescues if necessary.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  • Prior experience working as a Deckhand within marine operations, or experience working in guest‑facing adventure activities within marine tourism, within whale shark or diving environments highly desirable
  • A current First Aid and CPR certificate
  • A current Dive Master certification desirable
  • WA Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate (currently hold or be willing to obtain)
  • Exmouth Shire Food Handling certificate (currently hold or be willing to obtain)

Lastly, an AMSA issued marine qualification such as STCW, CoST, or GPH will be considered desirable for the role.
