Job description

We are looking for a Junior Data Scientist to join the UK Market Intelligence business and help modernizes our analytical approach to patient data and build automated data pipelines to unlock the value of real‑world healthcare data. The primary focus of the role will be to refactor legacy C++/Python components and design scalable, monitored pipelines in snowflake, while also conducting exploratory analyses that inform new product development. This could include creating MVP applications to quickly test idea feasbility of our client facing teams. In addition, there’s opportunity to support the UKs rollout of IQVIA Agentic AI platform to UK data assets.

This position will require working with diverse, large‑scale datasets, apply robust engineering and analytical approaches, and deliver solutions that improve efficiency and enable innovative healthcare data and analytical products. The team interacts with internal and external stakeholders from different backgrounds, therefore good technical and non-technical communication skills are crucial.

In addition, the role offers a scope for development in other key areas if interested:

  • Product Development– collaborating with software engineers, data architects, and fellow product managers to build scalable, automated routines and applications.
  • Business Development– contribute to business development initiatives through technical support for demos, thought leadership (e.g. publications, blogs, workshops), and input on project proposals.
  • Client Engagement– engage in delivering tailored solutions, generating reports, and communicating findings effectively to meet client needs.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Master’s (or 2:1 Bachelor’s with relevant project/internship) in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, or related fields
  • 0-2 years’ experience working as a data scientist of junior software developer
  • Experience solving problems within commercial life science and healthcare data (e.g. prediction of health outcomes such as disease progression, line of therapy, market sizing, etc.)
  • A proactive, innovative and pragmatic approach to problem solving and an ability to think critically and independently.
  • Ability to work as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle, particularly using Git
Skills:
  • Skilled in C++, Python, Spark and SQL.
  • Proficient in using data science packages (e,g sklearn, pandas, matplotlib, etc.)
  • Ability to write clean and documented code, as well as understanding and modifying existing code bases.
  • Experience communicating complex analytical concepts and insights to both technical and non-technical audience.
  • Demonstrated creativity, critical thinking, project planning, and attention to detail capabilities.
  • Exposure to GenAI technologies, including but not limited to prompt engineering and Agentic AI.
Bonus points for:
  • Skilled in Java
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical market and experience with pharmaceutical data. (patient, hospital, pharmacy)
  • Familiar with using Linux terminal & containers. (e.g. Docker)
  • Interest in applying advanced analytics, AI/ML and Gen AI approaches to healthcare and pharmaceutical data
  • PySpark / big data experience.
  • Knowledge of healthcare / life science system in the UK
