Job description

Join our journey to create a new experience for The National Lottery and help us to power change for the greater good.

We are Allwyn UK, part of the Allwyn Entertainment Group – a multi-national lottery operator with a market-leading presence across Europe which includes Czech Republic, Austria, Greece, Cyprus & Italy.

While the main contribution of The National Lottery to society is through the funds to good causes, at Allwyn we put our purpose and values at the heart of everything we do. Join us as we embark on a once-in-a-lifetime, largescale transformation journey by creating a National Lottery that delivers more money to good causes.

We’ll talk a bit more about us further down the page, but for now – let’s talk about the role and who we’re looking for…

A bit about the role…

The Data Delivery Lead acts as a strategic business partner and domain analytics leader, driving the delivery of data and analytics solutions across the Lottery and related business areas. This role combines deep domain understanding with advanced analytics expertise to deliver impactful, business-aligned solutions. By embedding BI within business processes and collaborating closely with stakeholders, the Data Delivery Lead ensures analytics initiatives directly support organisational goals and regulatory requirements.

What you’ll be doing...

1. Functional Ownership of BI Roadmap
  • Define, shape, and maintain a domain-driven BI roadmap, ensuring alignment with both enterprise strategy and specific business unit priorities.
  • Evaluate and prioritise new requests (e.g., dashboards, compliance updates, self-service expansions) in partnership with business units.
  • Prioritise initiatives based on business impact, regulatory needs, and stakeholder feedback.
2. Domain Leadership & Business Partnering
  • Serve as the primary BI contact for designated business domains, developing a nuanced understanding of their objectives, challenges, and data needs.
  • Build strong partnerships with business leaders (e.g., Finance, Marketing, Operations), co-creating analytics solutions that drive value and inform decision-making.
  • Facilitate regular domain-focused workshops and forums to surface opportunities for data-driven improvement.
3. Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Directly oversee Data Platform, Business Analysts and Visualisation, providing day-to-day guidance and establishing standardized best practices.
  • Foster a collaborative, growth-focused environment that encourages knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and method consistency.
4. Innovation Mindset & Continuous Improvement
  • Promote creative solutions for reporting challenges—e.g., advanced dashboards, data transformations, new integrations—while maintaining alignment with regulations and operation.
  • Track emerging trends in BI/analytics tools (e.g., advanced features in Power BI), championing pilot tests or POCs for improved functionality.
  • Champion a culture of innovation within business domains, piloting new BI tools and methodologies that address unique domain challenges.
5. Hands‑On Reporting & BI Expertise
  • Offer expert‑level guidance on Power BI or equivalent tools, assisting in complex data modeling, DAX optimisation, or performance tuning.
  • Collaborate with the Reporting Engineering Manager on advanced architectural decisions or major pipeline enhancements.
6. Stakeholder Engagement & Influence
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business partners, translating complex analytics into actionable recommendations.
  • Lead requirements gathering sessions, ensuring solutions are tailored to domain‑specific processes and KPIs.
  • Conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to negotiate project timelines, scope, and provide updates on roadmap progress.
7. Data Quality & Compliance
  • Work with governance/security teams to ensure lottery compliance (e.g., anonymity of winners, restricted data usage) for all reporting solutions.
  • Oversee data validation or QA steps, confirming accuracy of metrics and performance insights.
8. User Satisfaction & Self‑Service Promotion
  • Advocate for self‑service capabilities, supporting creation of curated datasets, intuitive dashboards, or semantic layers for non‑technical users.
  • Conduct user training or adoption sessions, gathering feedback to refine solutions and measure user satisfaction.
9. Project & Delivery Management
  • Oversee end-to‑end analytics initiatives: scoping, backlog management, UAT, final deployment.
  • Ensure on‑schedule, on‑budget delivery of solutions, highlighting potential risks or dependencies to the Head of BI or relevant leads.

Key Measures of Success:

• 1. Roadmap Execution & Innovation

  • % of roadmap items (functional or technical enhancements) delivered on schedule; successful integration of new, innovative features that improve lottery analytics.

• 2. Stakeholder Satisfaction & Prioritisation

  • Positive feedback from business units (finance, marketing, ops) on clarity and effectiveness of reporting solutions.
  • Evidence of effective backlog prioritisation, ensuring high‑impact projects are addressed first.

• 3. Data Accuracy & Regulatory Alignment

  • Minimal data quality incidents related to lottery data (e.g., sales, draws); no compliance breaches with lottery or privacy regulations.

• 4. Team Performance & Development

  • Growth in Business Analysts’ skill sets, as seen in consistent documentation, methodology, and solution quality.
  • Positive synergy with the Reporting Engineering Manager, enabling a streamlined development cycle.

• 5. User Engagement & Self‑Service Adoption

  • Increase in the number of self‑service dashboards created/used by business teams, demonstrating user empowerment.
  • Reduction in repetitive ad‑hoc requests, as more users rely on curated datasets and user‑friendly reports.

What experience we’re looking for…

  • 14+ Years in BI/Analytics
  • Proven experience in domain‑driven data delivery, ideally within regulated or complex business environments.
  • Demonstrated success in business partnering, stakeholder management, and influencing at all levels.
  • Ability to translate business strategy and domain knowledge into actionable analytics roadmaps and solutions.
  • Demonstrable leadership in delivering reporting & analytic solutions, ideally in regulated environments (lottery or similar).
  • Experience in troubleshooting, optimising, and directly building analytics solutions.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with a track record of developing high‑performing teams.
  • Expertise in Reporting Tools (Power BI Preferred)
  • Hands‑on proficiency with advanced data modelling, DAX, performance tuning, etc.; comfortable mentoring others in best practices.
  • Functional & Technical Roadmap Management
  • Strong track record of owning roadmaps, balancing user requests, compliance, and strategic data initiatives.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement
  • History of championing creative, iterative solutions in analytics—e.g., evaluating new AI/ML features or advanced BI functionalities.
  • Project Delivery & Stakeholder Management
  • Experience with end‑to‑end BI projects: from gathering requirements to UAT/deployment, communicating effectively with cross‑functional teams.
  • Skilled at prioritising tasks, negotiating deadlines, and aligning solutions with organisational goals.
  • Data Governance & Compliance Awareness
  • Familiarity with lottery or similarly regulated industry guidelines (security, privacy, data usage).
  • Comfortable integrating anonymization or masking methods as needed.
  • Team Leadership & Mentorship
  • Capable of leading and coaching Business Analysts on best practices, promoting consistent methods across the reporting function.
  • Confidence in building collaborative relationships with data engineers, testers, business stakeholders.

Additional Qualifications

  • AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Big Data – Specialty, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate/Professional) are highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Betting and Gaming (Lottery) domain is preferred.
  • Prior experience working with large‑scale data environments in a fast‑paced or startup‑like setting is a plus.
