Neway International are seeking a Data Architect to join our client based with Thurrock Council. Thurrock Council is seeking a Data Architect to join the Information Communication Technology group within the Chief Executive Office. This temporary role will support a one‑off project, providing expertise in data architecture, governance, and analysis to drive service improvement and strategic development.
- Apply techniques for analysing and synthesising data from internal and external sources, presenting clear findings to support service improvement and wider strategy development.
- Communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders, building collaborative relationships across all levels of the organisation.
- Promote data literacy and culture, hosting discussions to define needs and generate insights.
- Manage data governance practices, ensuring adherence to standards, maintaining data dictionaries, and managing privacy risks in line with legislation.
- Produce and maintain data models, reverse‑engineer models from live systems, and apply industry‑recognised patterns and standards.
- Support data quality assurance, validation, and linkage, including the design of front‑end systems and surveys to enhance user experience.
- Implement batch cleansing processes and develop auditing systems to maintain data quality.
- Use data visualisation tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik, Power BI) to present complex information in an engaging and actionable way for diverse audiences.
- Apply IT and mathematical skills using tools such as MS Excel, SQL, R, Python, QGIS, Tableau.
- Respond effectively to problems in databases, data processes, and services, initiating actions and identifying trends to resolve issues.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Data Architect or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, modelling, cleansing, and enrichment.
- Proficiency in data visualisation tools and methodologies.
- Advanced skills in SQL, R, Python, and other analytical tools.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Logical and creative problem‑solving abilities.
- Experience in managing data quality and supporting business intelligence architecture.

Hours: 37 per week
Pay Rates: PAYE: £52.42 per hour
Limited/Umbrella: £67.53 per hour
IR35 Status: Outside
