Who we are

We're not just talking about making a difference, we're making it happen. We generate dispatchable, renewable power and create stable energy in an uncertain world. Building on our proud heritage, we have ambition to become the global leader in sustainable biomass and carbon removals.

You'll be joining our teams of practical doers, future thinkers and business champions. We're enabling a zero carbon, lower cost energy future for all, and working hard to decarbonise the planet for generations to come.

About the role

As a Cyber Security Analyst within the Cyber Defence Centre team, you'll be responsible for identifying, triaging, and investigating potential security threats to help protect the organisations systems and data. Working alongside the Cyber Defence Centre team and the wider security teams, you'll play a key role in maintaining visibility across the environment and supporting effective incident response.

This role also contributes to the continuous improvement of alerting and detection capabilities by highlighting patterns, reducing false positives and creating triage documentation. Through a combination of hands‑on analysis and collaboration, you'll help to ensure the Cyber Defence Centre remains effective, responsive and resilient in its measures to mitigate risks to protect the Drax Estate.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Contributing to the CDC daily briefs by providing relevant updates, observations or notable trends identified during shift activity.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of analysis, investigations and actions taken aligning with CDC standards and tooling requirements.
  • Participating in the execution of daily checks, raising any findings or anomalies to the CDC specialist for further investigation.
  • Identifying and reporting inconsistencies or repetitive false positives in SIEM alerts to support alert tuning and reduce unnecessary noise.
  • Escalating cases to the threat intelligence team when deeper intelligence correlation is required.
  • Working with the operational technology cyber team to support triage and initial investigation of OT related alerts, maintaining clear communication for effective collaboration.
Who we're looking for

To be successful in this role, you'll have proven experience in working in a Cyber Security coordinator/analyst role, managing multiple activities at pace.

Ideally, you'll have a sound understanding of network security, industrial network protocols and Industrial Control Systems. An entry level certification such as SEC+, Net+ or SANS/GIAC would be an additional benefit.

Additionally, it would be beneficial to have an understanding of security frameworks including NIST, NIS Regulations, CAF, IEC, SoGP, MITRE ATT&CK®, MITRE ATT&CK® ICS and/or Cyber Kill Chain.

This role requires strong analytical and problem‑solving skills including root‑cause analysis with the ability to manage multiple activities at pace.

You'll have strong communication and stakeholder management skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to lead small projects, work with complexity and think outside the box.

Rewards and benefits
  • Competitive salary
  • Discretionary group performance‑based bonus
  • 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays)
  • Single cover private medical insurance
  • Pension scheme
