Job Overview

A Personal Assistant (PA) is required to support an 11‑year‑old boy in the HU5 area of Hull. The PA will support his mum with caring for the boy and take instructions from her.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the child with daily activities, including trips to the park, swimming, bus rides, and outdoor walks when he is overwhelmed.
  • Provide emotional support such as giving a tight hug when he is stressed or upset.
  • Help the child navigate his wheelchair outside the home.
  • Support toileting needs every two hours, following guidance from the mum.
  • Assist with everyday therapy‑based activities indoors during cold weather.
  • Maintain a patient and understanding approach, with a preference for experience supporting young people with autism.
  • Use simple instructions for a non‑verbal child.
Additional Requirements
  • Car driving experience and access to own transport preferred.
  • Prepared to undergo a DBS check.
  • Recognise that any offer is contingent on a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check, the cost of which will be met by the local authority/employer.
