Job Description

PSM Recruitment is looking for an experienced Customs Manager to oversee our Clients Customs Team based in Dover. This role is responsible for leading the delivery of high-quality customs services that support both external clients and internal offices across the business.

The position covers international road and airfreight operations managing both import and export customs clearance activities. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance, operational efficiency and exceptional customer service while developing a knowledgeable and progressive customs function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise and guide senior management on all matters relating to the import and export of goods including changes to government legislation, regulations and official guidance
  • Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing team of Customs Specialists ensuring consistently high levels of customer service
  • Oversee the induction training and ongoing development of team members in line with current customs clearance procedures and best practice
  • Ensure all internal and external customs clearance tools, software and working practices are maintained at industry-leading standards
  • Advise internal teams and customers on customs requirements and oversee the implementation of agreed or required customs action plansRemain fully conversant with customs clearance developments across the UK, EU and all other territories served by the business
  • Implement and manage relevant IT systems and customs software with the ability to compile, analyse and interpret operational and compliance data
  • Develop and implement a clear strategic vision for the continued progression, efficiency and scalability of the customs function
  • Ensure all customs activities are completed accurately, compliably and within agreed service levels
Key Skills & Qualifications
