Availability Window

The following availability is requested: Sun 13:30–22:30; Mon 18:30–22:30; Wed 13:30–22:30; Thu 13:30–22:30.

Pay and hours: Our Customer Delivery Driver rate of pay starts from £13.35 per hour; this increases to £14.56 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.

It's our policy to offer new colleagues a minimum of 16 guaranteed hours each week. If you prefer fewer hours, a minimum of 12 hours is available and we would still love to hear from you.

The table shows the periods of time in the week we’d like you to be available to work. We will schedule your contracted hours within these times and you will receive 3 weeks9 notice of exactly when your shifts will be. We are happy to support flexibility, so if your available times match closely but not exactly, we would still love to hear from you. To read more, click here.

As the face of Tesco out on the road, we deliver all the way from Lands End to John O’Groats. Our Customer Delivery Drivers meet and talk to different customers in their homes every day. This role is about more than just driving: it’s about helping others and delivering great service, with a smile.

It’s hands on, physical and full of variety. No two shifts are ever the same and our customers look for help in all kinds of different ways. For most of the day you9ll feel like your own boss delivering to customers, but there is always a team of Managers and colleagues back at base to support you when needed.

Responsibilities include delivering as part of our customer shopping journey:

  • Ensure the van and trays are clean and kept tidy/organised.
  • Leave the back yard clean, tidy and clear of rubbish; pick up litter as you see it.
  • Ensure trays are washed as part of the tray wash process.
  • Load the van as required and check the van for roadworthiness.
  • Speak with the customer about any changes to their order, including substitutions, and offer refunds for items they are unhappy with.
  • Take care of products/deliveries as if they were your own.
  • Explain to the customer that substitutions will not incur additional charges.
  • Deliver within the customers time slot.
  • Call the customer before arriving if you are early.
  • Call the store/centre if you will be 30 minutes or more late.
  • Build relationships with colleagues to create team spirit and ensure the store is the best it can be for customers.
  • Be warm and welcoming in interactions with customers and colleagues; take time to understand the customer and say "Thank you".
  • Act quickly to respond to changing customer needs and embrace change within the store.
  • Be energetic and driven to deliver beyond expectations, balancing home and work.
  • Share ideas with your Manager and colleagues on how we can improve the store for customers.
  • A valid UK/EU/EEA Driving licence (Full or Automatic only) for at least 12 months with no more than 3 penalty points.
