About your new role

Accidents involving motor vehicles give rise to numerous claims and legal actions, affecting businesses, non-commercial organisations, and insurers. The volume of cases and potential costs can significantly impact operational performance.

We need a service that processes cases swiftly and efficiently, achieving satisfactory settlements. Weightmans' Motor team is a market leader, offering comprehensive services with dedicated teams handling fast track, multi track, fraud, credit hire, indemnity issues, and representation at inquests and criminal prosecutions.

We are recruiting for a Paralegal to initially assist and then manage a caseload of credit hire cases.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Manage caseload effectively and efficiently
  • Review liability and quantum, and Claimant Solicitor conduct before devising handling strategies
  • Handle cases to conclusion, including instructing investigators, posing Part 35 questions, instructing Counsel, and making Part 36 offers
  • Complete client and firm MI procedures
  • Comply with client SLAs, e-manual, and claims handling requirements
  • Achieve chargeable hours and financial targets
  • Comply with Data Protection Procedures

The above is not exhaustive; additional duties may be assigned. As a Paralegal, you will also ensure compliance with Weightmans and client policies, working in accordance with our values.

About You

You should have previous Paralegal experience and a genuine interest in this area. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as well as:

  • Experience handling or assisting with litigated motor files, preferably as a Defendant
  • Credit hire experience
  • Knowledge of CPR
  • Ability to meet deadlines and targets
  • Teamwork and initiative
  • Excellent communication skills
