About the Role

Are you a confident, organised individual with a passion for education? A welcoming and supportive secondary school in Newport is looking for a Cover Supervisor to join their team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in a classroom setting or explore a career in teaching.

In this role, you’ll step into classrooms across a range of subjects, delivering pre-set lessons when teachers are absent. You don’t need to be a subject expert — just someone who can keep students focused, motivated, and on track.

Who We’re Looking for?

  • Confidence to lead a class and manage behaviour positively
  • Aged 18 or over
  • Supportive of students’ academic, social, and emotional development
  • Familiar with core curriculum subjects
  • Experience working with young people (e.g. youth work, coaching, tutoring, school support) is desirable but not essential

Requirements

Teaching Personnel can provide guidance to help you obtain:

  • Registration with theEducation Workforce Council (EWC)
  • Enhanced Child DBS on Update Service
  • Level 2 Safeguarding training
  • At least two professional references covering 24 months employment
