Cover Supervisor

Location: Bury Saint Edmunds

Salary: £26,403 - £28,142 per annum (FTE), £21,065 - £22,851 (Pro Rata)

Vacancy Type: Permanent, 34.33 hours per week, Term Time Plus one week

The High School is a small high school set in the picturesque Suffolk countryside, they are 10 minutes from the A14, 20 mins from Bury St. Edmunds, 35 mins from Ipswich and 45 mins from Sudbury.

The Role

They are looking for a hard-working and enthusiastic person with high standards and the ability to communicate and interact effectively with others as part of the school team as a Cover Supervisor.

As a Cover Supervisor you will be expected to deliver high-quality lessons across the curriculum using supplied lesson plans. When not covering lessons, you will be given tasks such as supporting students in classes, supporting in exams, creating displays and providing some admin support.

Skills and Qualifications
  • A good standard of education, particularly in English and Mathematics
  • Knowledge of a range of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, as well as the SEND code of practice, with the ability to support pupils with SEND and/or additional learning needs up to GCSE level
  • Knowledge of the use of basic technology i.e. photocopier, scanner, computer, DVD and digital camera
  • Knowledge of child protection issues
Desirable
  • Up to date knowledge and understanding of specific learning difficulties
  • Knowledge of appropriate First Aid procedures
  • Knowledge of specialist SEND resources.
Skills and Attributes
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to use language and other communication skills to which pupils can relate; your written English skills should be excellent
  • Ability to empathise with the needs of secondary aged pupils
  • Ability to work effectively with other colleagues, including having strong administrative skills to support the staff you are working with
