A community college in Exeter seeks a Cover Supervisor starting January 2026. This role involves overseeing classes in the absence of teachers and ensuring students' learning is maximised. Clyst Vale is a thriving and vibrant 11-18 Community College situated five miles from Exeter. Starting in January 2026 we are looking to appoint a highly motivated, organised and confident person to join our team as a Cover Supervisor who can oversee classes when teachers are absent, ensuring that learning in the classroom is maximised.
No previous experience required; however we are looking for someone adaptable and open to development. Someone who may be looking for a new direction or challenge in a role that helps shape the lives of our young people. This is an ideal opportunity for somebody who is maybe thinking of a career in teaching, or an NQT who is yet to secure their first teaching appointment.
The successful candidate will deliver lessons planned by the teacher but will also have the ability to improvise if required and work with Heads of Departments to modify the work set. You will ensure that positive behaviour is shown in the classroom and challenge serious behaviour problems in line with the College's behaviour policy. Training will be provided in the college's specific IT software, but the candidate must be able to use Word and Excel proficiently. Excellent communication skills, a resilient personality, and the confidence to liaise with teachers, other members of staff and parents where required are essential.
Hours: Monday to Friday 08.30 – 15.20. There may be some flexibility within the days worked for the right candidate.
Salary: CVCC D point 12 £20,032 for 1175.37 hours per annum as advertised.
