Job description
Job Purpose

To supervise and support students during non-teaching times and/or in the absence of a teacher, ensuring a safe, orderly, and positive environment throughout the school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise students in classrooms, corridors, dining halls, playgrounds, and other designated areas during breaks, lunch, or transitions between lessons.
  • Maintain good order and discipline, promoting positive behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy.
  • Provide cover supervision for classes during short-term teacher absence, ensuring students remain on task with work set by teaching staff.
  • Monitor and support students to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Deal promptly with incidents in line with school procedures, reporting issues to the appropriate staff member.
  • Assist with the entry and exit of students at the start and end of the school day if required.
  • Support the smooth running of school events and activities when needed.
  • Build positive relationships with students and staff to create a welcoming, inclusive environment.
Person Specification

Essential:

  • Ability to maintain authority and order while building positive relationships with young people.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational or supervisory setting.

Working Hours

Typically term-time only, with hours aligning to the school day (exact hours negotiable). Flexibility may be required to support before/after-school provision or school events.
