On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit a Cost Engineer on an initial 10‑month contract. As the Cost Engineer you will be responsible for estimating the full aircraft perimeter for all programmes, including Non‑Recurring Costs, Recurring Costs and Make and Buy.

Pay: £35 per hour via umbrella
Location: Filton (60% onsite)
Contract: Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week, 10 months contract
IR35 Status: Inside
Security Clearance: BPSS
Responsibilities
- Produce RC and NRC estimates for A220 Design to Cost projects to enable business decisions to be made. Scope can be extended to SA and A350 programmes based on demand.
- Use Digital Costing tools and models, ensuring estimates are harmonised and consistent with the latest references and ways of working.
- Support cost modelling, specifically for composites manufacturing processes.
- Support successful Design to Cost projects from concept through to Entry Into Service, ensuring that the RC reduction is maintained.
- Analyse work package estimates, identify opportunities and communicate those opportunities to programme and engineering customers.
- Understand and support manufacturing and engineering activities in order to better estimate the recurring and non‑recurring costs associated with design changes, from R&T to design‑to‑cost activities.
- Lead cost engineering discussions with Airbus suppliers.
- Participate in Design to Cost workshops and provide key messages and recommendations to stakeholders for cost‑effective solutions.
- Guarantee the quality, reliability and neutrality of the costing procedure and results.
Essential Skills
- Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in Engineering or a related discipline, with manufacturing and/or engineering experience.
- Knowledge of detailed part manufacturing processes: composite, metallic, machined and fabricated, assembly.
- Knowledge of non‑recurring impacts when industrialising product changes.
- Design to cost experience and mindset.
- Ability to understand and explain design, manufacturing and costing details, while also being able to step back to see the macro view for the complete business.
- Very good strategic and analytical skills, including data analysis, able to break down complex topics and perform root‑cause analysis.
- Team player with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Good communication and presentation skills at all levels.
- Strong ability to interact and influence.
- Fluency in English is required; any additional languages will be viewed positively.
