Job summary

A healthcare organization in Rainham is seeking a Band 4/5 Cost Accountant to join their team on a full-time basis. This hybrid role involves supporting the development of Patient Level Costing and maintaining the Trust’s costing system. Ideal candidates will have an AAT qualification or be working towards it, along with a good understanding of finance principles and proficiency in Excel. This position offers training for those lacking NHS finance experience.

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Band 4/5 Cost Accountant. This role offers a developmental opportunity at Band 4.

Position

Band 4/5 Cost Accountant – full‑time, based at our Rainham office with a hybrid arrangement covering the NELFT borough. Occasional travel may be required.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the development of Patient Level Costing by ensuring all necessary data is captured and presented in an appropriate format for a broad range of staff.
• Model, develop and maintain the Trust’s costing system, ensuring it is always up to date.

Qualifications & Experience

• Should be AAT qualified or currently working towards qualification.
• Good working knowledge of IT systems, particularly Excel.
• Previous finance experience in an NHS environment is an advantage, though not essential as training will be provided.
• Experience in business partnering is also an advantage.
• Full understanding of finance principles.

Work Arrangement

This is a hybrid post that will cover the borough within NELFT. Employees may need to travel from time to time.
