Location: Surrey, BC V3W 3M9

Work setting: Banquet hall

Salary: $21.50 per hour / 160 hours per month

Employment terms: Permanent, Full time, Day shift

Start date: Starts as soon as possible

Responsibilities
  • Co‑coordinate special events
  • Determine the size of food portions and costs
  • Plan menus and estimate food requirements for their realization
  • Requisition food and kitchen supplies
  • Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods
  • Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
  • Prepare and cook special meals for patients as instructed by dietitian or chef
  • Inspect kitchens and food service areas
  • Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
  • Order supplies and equipment
  • Supervise kitchen staff and helpers
  • Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment
  • Clean kitchen and work areas
  • Recruit and hire staff
  • Organize buffets and banquets
  • Manage kitchen operations
Qualifications

Education: College, CEGEP or other non‑university certificate or diploma from a program of 1‑2 years.

Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years in a similar role.

Certifications: Food Safety Certificate.

Cuisine specialties: South Indian, East Indian, West Indian, International, Gluten‑free.

Personal suitability: Client focus, dependability, excellent oral communication, flexibility, initiative, judgement, organized, reliability, team player, time management.

Physical requirements: Ability to handle 45‑60 kg (100‑132 lb); standing for extended periods; fast‑paced environment; heavy loads; repetitive tasks; work under pressure.

Other requirements: Ability to use public transportation; work on site only.
