A leading flexible packaging manufacturer in Leeds is seeking a Conversion Machine Operator. You will operate the Conversion machine, ensuring that all production meets customer specifications and quality standards. The ideal candidate will be reliable and motivated, with some physical requirements. Full training is provided for this role which pays between £12.21 and £12.91 per hour for 40 hours per week.

Job description

Apply today to work as a Conversion Machine Operator for our client, a Specialist Flexible Packaging Manufacturer. Staffline is recruiting Conversion Machine Operators in Leeds.

The rate of pay is £12.21 - £12.91 per hour. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week.

Working hours
  • 6am to 2pm
  • 2pm to 10pm
  • 10pm to 6am

Currently working 6am to 2pm and 2pm to 10pm, but will be moving onto 3 shifts, so must be able to commit to all 3.

Your Time at Work

Your main responsibilities are to operate the Conversion machine confidently and proficiently, as part of the print environment, whilst adhering to the strict Health & Safety regulations and upholding the company's quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Running one of the company's Conversion machines, producing work, right first time to customer specifications, achieving all company operational KPI's.
  • Ability to operate all machines within the dept.
  • Ensure that slitting jobs are prioritised and organised in line with the production schedule.
  • Ensure that the correct work ticket is being used prior to Conversion.
  • Ensure all documentation is correctly filled out and signed on the works ticket on completion of the required conversion job.
  • Understands the use and need of the Radius system.
  • Ensure working area is clean, tidy and obstruction‑free.
  • Embrace continuous improvement initiatives
  • Communicate with the Slitting and Conversion Manager or the Shift Manager any defects
  • Operate in line with site health and safety, environmental and quality standards, including BRC & ISO.
  • Organise your workload in line with the daily print programme, ensuring work is delivered against targets and customer requirements.
  • Ensure that all established quality standards are met.
  • Assisting with production operations as and when required, including the maintenance and upkeep of relevant equipment.
  • Check Orders, process control, paperwork and requirements in advance of the plan, to enable production to operate effectively. Ensure the Shift Manager is notified immediately of anything missing or non‑conformities.
  • Provide overtime cover as is necessary and reasonable.
  • Follow the cleaning regime, ensuring all documentation is completed.
  • To undertake reasonable requests as directed by the management from time to time.

Our perfect worker will ensure that all products produced are to customer specifications, will meet with quality assurance testing to achieve your KPI's. A reasonable level of fitness is required, as the role involves some physical activity, e.g., lifting & bending.

You will be reliable, motivated, and enthusiastic about producing a quality finished product to customer specifications. Applicants will demonstrate the ability to work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and the capacity to work under demanding deadlines.

Experience in a similar role is desirable, but not essential as full training is provided.
