Overview
Civils Contract Manager to oversee enabling works, bulk earthworks (muck shift), and remediation projects across Yorkshire and the North of England. This is a key leadership role within a growing specialist contractor, offering the opportunity to manage complex ground preparation schemes from pre-construction through to handover. Location: Leeds, West Yorkshire. Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 per annum + package (dependent on experience). Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time.
Responsibilities
- Manage multiple civils contracts, ensuring safe, timely, and cost-effective delivery
- Oversee enabling works including site clearance, access roads, compound setup, and temporary works
- Lead muck shift operations, coordinating plant, haulage, and disposal routes
- Supervise remediation activities including soil treatment, validation, and regulatory compliance
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and statutory bodies to ensure smooth project progression
- Prepare and review RAMS, programmes, and progress reports
- Manage subcontractors and direct labour, ensuring high standards of workmanship and safety
- Monitor budgets, variations, and contractual obligations
- Support tendering and estimating with technical input and site assessments
Requirements
- Proven experience in civils contract management, ideally within enabling, earthworks, or remediation
- Strong understanding of bulk excavation, soil classification, and waste management protocols
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Commercial awareness and experience managing NEC or JCT contracts
- Relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering or Construction Management (HNC/HND/Degree)
- SMSTS, CSCS (Black Card), and First Aid certification desirable
- Full UK driving licence
