3 months contract with local authority flexible parttime with remote working.

This role involves providing high-quality customer-focused legal advice and assistance primarily in the area of Contracts & Procurement. The position requires handling a wide range of legal tasks with minimal supervision including drafting legal documents, negotiating agreements and advising on contract and public procurement law. The role is crucial for ensuring compliance with legal standards and supporting the council's functions through expert legal guidance.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist legal advice in Contracts & Procurement.
  • Draft and negotiate legal documents such as agreements, deeds and notices.
  • Collaborate with local authorities on significant agreements.
  • Advise on contract procurement law and subsidy control matters.
  • Customize legal advice for Council Officers understanding.
  • Participate in project teams for governance and procurement input.
  • Keep clients informed of relevant legislation and case law.
  • Work with the Procurement Team to review legal templates and agreements.
  • Attend strategic procurement meetings to offer legal advice.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate governance requirements.
  • Approve reports and provide legal advice at management meetings.
  • Advise on policy-making and procedural developments.
  • Manage an extensive caseload relevant to service demand.
  • Provide legal advice to elected members and senior managers.
  • Represent the Council’s interests at forums and meetings.
  • Develop effective relationships with other service areas and organisations.
  • Assist in complex case management when requested.
  • Coordinate with service clients and advise on achieving objectives legally.
  • Collaborate with senior contracts and procurement lawyers.
  • Maintain case load information and progress data.
  • Complete work within set timescales and statutory limits.

Requirements
  • Expertise in Contracts & Procurement law.
