An exciting and unique opportunity for a talented Content Editor to manage content for the HFEA's website and Clinic Portal, and to support our communications on high-profile issues around fertility.
Main duties of the job
The website is the HFEA's main source for unbiased information about fertility treatment for patients. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to ensure it meets our audiences' information needs and ranks highly so that we are the go-to source for information on fertility treatment.
You will report to the Web Manager/Developer and work with the communications team on developing new content pages and supporting the development of engaging content for our social media channels.
Responsibilities
- Manage the content review planner and the register of external links; identify gaps and redundancies in site content (missing pages, broken links, etc.).
- Lead on the delivery and development of the HFEA's press cuttings service for colleagues, ensuring colleagues are alerted to media mentions.
- Contribute to internal communications initiatives.
- Publish HFEA reports and press releases to the website in a timely and high-standard manner.
- Keep website content up to date to meet audience information needs and ranking requirements.
- Ensure the HFEA's visual identity is reflected on the website and Clinic Portal; ensure appropriate use of images.
- Work with the communications team on developing new content pages for different audiences.
- Support the Digital Communications and Social Media Officer to source and develop engaging content for social media channels.
- Liaise with the Communications Manager and Senior External Communications/ Social Media Officers to coordinate outputs across external communications channels.
- Lead the weekly press cuttings service for HFEA staff and highlight general health and fertility news on a monthly/ad hoc basis.
- Support the Senior External Communications Manager to source and write articles for external publications and the HFEA website.
Experience
- High-level experience with web content management systems (preferably Umbraco).
- Ability to use HTML and CSS.
- Knowledge of website accessibility and Government Digital Service standards.
- Experience managing and generating web content with an understanding of SEO.
- Experience with website testing and documentation.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and other content creation tools.
- Experience using screen readers to test content tags and functionality.
- Experience monitoring and analysing website traffic and metrics using Google Analytics.
- Familiarity with media monitoring platforms such as Vuelio.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and take initiative.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with people at all levels.
- Ability to organise daily work, prioritise competing tasks, and work under pressure with tight deadlines.
Qualifications
- Formal qualification or training relevant to the role in website content management or communications design techniques, or equivalent experience.
- Degree-level qualification or relevant experience in a communications/IT-related subject.

The office is in Stratford, east London, near the Olympic Park, with colleagues across several Health Arms Length Bodies.
