Job description

Streamline Recruitment are currently recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Container Operator based in Stanford‑le‑Hope.

This role will involve managing and coordinating container movements across key UK ports, while overseeing and supporting your own fleet of vehicles. You'll play a key part in ensuring collections and deliveries run smoothly, keeping drivers and customers informed throughout.

Key Responsibilities
  • Arrange and manage container collections and deliveries from ports including Stanford‑le‑Hope, Southampton and Felixstowe
  • Plan routes and workloads for your allocated fleet, ensuring efficient operations
  • Use VBS systems to book slots and manage port movements
  • Release PIN details and relevant documentation to drivers for container collections
  • Track and manage drivers using the Truckcom system
  • Monitor traffic conditions, delays and disruptions, adjusting routes as needed
  • Proactively update customers on any delays to container collections or deliveries
  • Liaise closely with drivers regarding traffic updates, routing and port instructions
  • Provide out‑of‑hours support for your fleet when required
Additional Duties
  • Ensure compliance with drivers' hours, WTD and transport legislation
  • Maintain accurate records of bookings, movements and PODs
  • Resolve operational issues to minimise service disruption
  • Liaise with ports, depots and customers to maintain service levels
  • Support continuous improvement within transport operations
Experience & Skills Required
  • Previous experience in a container operations or transport planning role
  • Strong understanding of UK port operations and container movements
  • Confident user of VBS systems
  • Experience using Truckcom or similar vehicle tracking systems

Monday – Friday 09:00–18:00 + out of hours support.

£40‑50k DOE.
