Application for this substantive post will only be accepted if you hold full GMC registration with a license to practice and entry on the Specialist Register or are anticipating being in receipt of CCT/Professional Portfolio (formerly CESR) within six months of interview.

We are pleased to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious, and dynamic individual to join our committed and well-integrated multidisciplinary team, providing high-standard care to the local community. This is a full-time, substantive post (potentially >10 Programmed Activities by negotiation).

There is an opportunity to become Clinical Lead for the Stroke Service for candidates with the appropriate experience. This role would attract additional remuneration and PA allowance within the Job Plan.

The Royal Lancaster Infirmary offers an active acute thrombolysis service (thrombectomy at Royal Preston Hospital) and utilizes a specialist Telestroke On-Call Service out of hours and at weekends. You may join the general medicine On-Call Rota, Telestroke On-Call rota, or both.

This post supports the development of the Stroke Service, working alongside existing Stroke Consultants, the Care of the Elderly Team, and General Medicine colleagues. You will liaise with Neuroradiology, Neurosurgery, and Vascular Surgery teams, as well as Stroke Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Matrons, Ward Managers, Nurses, Therapists, and Secretaries to deliver excellent patient care throughout the hospital journey. You will provide clinical leadership to a dedicated team.

The Trust's hospitals are located on the edge of the Lake District National Park, offering stunning natural beauty and outdoor activities related to the sea, lakes, fells, and countryside. Cities like Liverpool and Manchester are easily accessible by train or car.

We are committed to teaching, education, and audit. The University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust is actively involved in medical and dental education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, providing opportunities to contribute to the development of junior colleagues. Medical students from Lancaster Medical School complete their entire education in Cumbria and North Lancashire, with UHMBFT responsible for acute practice placements throughout their five-year degree.

We seek a passionate colleague proficient in Stroke Medicine to provide acute medical and rehabilitation care. You will contribute to a high-quality TIA Service. A new combined Acute and Rehabilitation Stroke Unit opened in December 2019.

You will see patients in the Combined Stroke Unit, TIA Clinic, and Out-Patient Clinics. You will also have allocated time for SPA and administrative work.
