Job description

Applications are invited for the post of a permanent Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon based at the Great Western Hospital.

The Breast Centre is a friendly and forward‑thinking department with a fully digital environment, a 4‑Dimension Hologic Mammography unit, and a recently opened Radiotherapy Centre. The team performs well against national Cancer Waiting Times (CWT) and Referral to Treatment (RTT) standards.

Clinical Duties
  • Provide a comprehensive Oncoplastic Breast Surgery service and continue responsible care for patients.
  • Continue to develop Breast surgery services aligned with the strategic aims of the Trust.
  • Participate in the gold‑standard One‑Stop Rapid Access Outpatients service for new referrals and ongoing care.
  • Develop sub‑specialty interests that fit the Directorate needs and participate in audit and the development of new services.
  • Cover for Consultant colleagues’ periods of leave in accordance with Trust policy.
Eligibility and Sponsorship
  • Current right to work in the UK, subject to verification.
  • Qualification of the eligibility sponsorship criteria.
  • Skilled worker visa sponsorship is available for eligible applicants; salary requirements apply.
  • Candidates are responsible for covering the cost of their DBS check (£21.50 for a Standard DBS check, recoverable from the first pay, or £49.50 for an Enhanced DBS check).
