Job description
Overview

A Vacancy at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic Neurology Consultant to work at Croydon University Hospital with close liaison at St George’s Hospital. The appointee will support the department to respond to operational pressures, contribute to effective clinical governance, and participate in longer-term service strategies.

The postholder will work within the multi–disciplinary team to develop and deliver a comprehensive acute neurology service and will take an active role in the general workload of the department. The appointee is expected to contribute to inpatient, outpatient and emergency work (ward / A&E referrals).

This is a full-time new post consisting of 10 programmed activities – 10 PAs at CUH. The locum consultant would help develop the acute service, and any subspecialty interest will be considered. Movement Disorder or Epilepsy subspecialism would be particularly helpful. The Trust is especially interested in expanding neuro-rehabilitation, traumatic brain injury, neuromuscular and functional neurological disorder services, but all subspecialist interests could be considered.

There is a longstanding link between Croydon University Hospital and the tertiary centre at St George’s Hospital, essential for continuing medical education, governance, and reaccreditation.

About Croydon Health Services NHS Trust: the Trust provides hospital and community services across Croydon. Formed on 1 August 2010 through the integration of Croydon Community Health Services and Mayday Healthcare NHS Trust, it employs around 4,100 staff serving a population of over 360,000 with diverse needs. Croydon University Hospital is a busy London site, with growing roles in community-based and home-based care, supported by district nursing teams, Allied Health Professionals and community matrons, and a Children’s Hospital at Home service for children with long-term conditions.

Across the NHS, we are working to meet rising demand. We are committed to education and training, offering access to core skills training and professional development.
