A leading health organization in Wales is seeking a full-time Consultant Paediatric Intensivist for their Paediatric Intensive Care Unit in Cardiff. The role involves providing specialized care for children requiring intensive treatment, engaging in research, and teaching with Cardiff University. Applicants should ideally hold a Specialist Registration or be nearing their CCT, with evidence of experience as a Consultant. This position offers a competitive salary ranging from £110,240 to £160,951 per annum.
Applications are invited for a full‑time substantive Consultant Paediatric Intensivist to join the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) team based at Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales on the University Hospital of Wales site in Cardiff.
Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.
Although this post is full‑time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements.
Applicants should be on the Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview.
Applicants must provide names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of their employment/training history in full. If currently or most recently employed as a substantive Consultant or a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months, an additional referee – the Medical Director – is also required.
The basic salary range for this post is £110,240 per annum to £160,951 per annum.
The Paediatric intensive care unit (PICU) in Cardiff is the only children's intensive care unit located within Wales and accepts children requiring intensive care from all of mid and South Wales. It treats patients with all paediatric conditions, including neurosurgery, and functions as a Major Trauma Centre; patients requiring acute cardiac surgery are transferred to Bristol PICU.
Academic interests will be encouraged; research and teaching in collaboration with Cardiff University's School of Medicine will be expected.
