Job Summary

We are delighted to advertise a Consultant in Otorhinolaryngology with a special interest in Rhinology to join a very dynamic and forward‑looking Otorhinolaryngology department. The successful candidate will lead the subspecialty for Rhinology, delivering care for the population of Hywel Dda University Health Board. By joining the team this post will ensure a sustainable service and increased expertise in a rewarding and challenging discipline. There is an opportunity to influence service improvement through innovative technology and pathway reform while working as part of the Welsh Clinical Implementation Group for Ear, Nose and Throat and Audiology.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Rhinology subspecialty, providing direct clinical contact through outpatient clinics, ward rounds and theatre activity.
• Administer and validate patient care, including research and audit opportunities.
• Maintain appropriate clinical competence through registration and continuous professional development.
• Work closely with senior management to contribute to service improvement and departmental governance.
• Teach and mentor junior staff.
• Collaborate closely with other clinical, medical, professional and managerial colleagues to provide high‑quality healthcare to the Health Board's patients.

Qualifications

• Member of the Royal College of Surgeons (or equivalent) and possess CCT or be eligible for inclusion on the specialist register.
• Relevant experience in Otorhinolaryngology with a special interest in Rhinology.
• Good communication and leadership skills.

Placement Details

Primary base at Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen with outpatient clinics on peripheral sites.
