Job description
Position overview

The Department of Orthopaedics is seeking a consultant (10 PA) to support the growing demand for shoulder and elbow surgery. The post holder will work within the orthopaedic and trauma department, delivering multidisciplinary care to the local South East London population and our tertiary referral network patients.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver orthopaedic trauma service in shoulder and elbow, in conjunction with colleagues.
  • Perform elective shoulder and elbow surgery, including arthroscopic shoulder and elbow, and arthroplasty of both the shoulder and elbow.
  • Acute fracture care for shoulder and elbow, working with the Orthopaedic Trauma Team on both virtual and face‑to‑face consulting and trauma operating.
  • Teach undergraduate and postgraduate trainees and contribute to the management of the clinical service and service development.
  • Participate in clinical and other service activities to maintain a high standard of patient care.
Qualifications
  • Specialist expertise in shoulder and elbow surgery.
  • Special interest in shoulder and elbow trauma.
  • Experience in arthroscopic shoulder and elbow surgery and arthroplasty of both the shoulder and elbow.
