Requiredto fill this new post within the Womens Gynaecology Department at St JamessUniversity Hospital.

We are seeking dynamic, passionate, and innovative applicants to joinour dedicated team in Leeds as a Consultant Gynaecologist. The successfulcandidate will provide comprehensive gynaecological care in various areas,including the colposcopy service (as Lead Colposcopist), gynaecology clinic,Gynaecology Acute Treatment Unit (GATU), ambulatory gynaecology, and theoperating theatre

In this role, you will collaborate with a friendly and motivated teamcommitted to recovering and continuously improving gynaecological services,ensuring excellent patient care. There will be opportunities to participate inexciting service development projects tailored to your interests and skills,supported by a strong focus on professional growth.

Main duties of the job

This requires delivering clinical services as agreed withstakeholders while focusing on quality and efficiency, meeting clinical outcomeobjectives, and adhering to service standards such as waiting times andinfection control. You will lead the colposcopy service, conduct regularclinics, supervise nurse colposcopists, and ensure quality assurance throughorganizing multidisciplinary team meetings and liaising with Public HealthEngland.

You should have experience in gynaecology and colposcopy, alongwith proven leadership and team collaboration skills. You will be managed byyour specialty Lead Clinician and will report to Dr. Magnus Harrison, the ChiefMedical Officer. Astrong commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a researchinterest is desirable.

Job responsibilities

This is a 10 PA appointment for a ConsultantGynaecologist. The post will be based at St Jamess University Hospital. Thispost has been created to lead and help deliver the Colposcopy Service in Leeds.There will also be an expectation to support the local cancer service managing earlyendometrial cancers and borderline ovarian lesions.

2.OBJECTIVESOF THE POST

We arelooking for dynamic, passionate, innovative and driven applicants to join andcomplement the existing team in Leeds. The successful applicantwill provide gynaecological care in the following areas:

Colposcopyservice (and Lead Colposcopist)

Gynaecology Acute Treatment Unit (GATU)

Ambulatory Gynaecology

Operating Theatre.

The successful applicant will be part of a friendly,hard-working and motivated team dedicated tothe recovery of gynaecological services and the continuous development,improvement and delivery of excellent gynaecological care

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • MB BS (or equivalent) Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (UK) or equivalent.
  • Holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or be within six months of CCT date in Obstetrics & Gynaecology or have equivalent training and experience.
  • On Specialist Register with GMC and holding a licence to practice. Applicants must provide information regarding their status from the GMC and/or relevant Royal College at the time of applications, in order for their application to be progressed further. Interview applicants must be on the Specialist Register at the time of interview or within 6 months.
  • Hold full GMC Registration with a license to practice.
  • YOUR GMC NUMBER MUST BE CLEARLY STATED IN YOUR APPLICATION.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
  • Is up to date and fit to practise safely.
  • MD or PhD
Experience
  • Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in Gynaecology possessing an advanced level of clinical competence by time of commencement of post in:
  • General gynaecology and should be able to care for women with acute gynaecological illnesses independently.
  • Be confident and competent to perform advanced gynaecological (laparoscopic and open) surgical procedures independently with evidence to support this.
  • Colposcopy being able to perform at an independent level and show evidence of this. Be confident to lead and supervise nurse colposcopists.
  • Evidence of commitment to Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) consistent with personal circumstances.
  • Experience as a Lead Colposcopist
  • Experience in gynaecology scanning
  • Experience in running and managing 2ww clinics
  • Laparoscopic surgery qualification such as the Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery ATSM, MSc/PGDip/PGCert in Advanced Gynaecological Endoscopy, or equivalent post CCT training.
  • Medical education qualification and/or experience.
Training, Research, Teaching & Audit
  • Should have completed a recognised training programme in gynaecological surgery.
  • BSCCP/RCOG Colposcopy certification. (If pre-CCT, evidence to be on track to complete by date of CCT).
  • Evidence of the ability to carry out medical research.
  • Evidence of peer review publications/Presentations at professional meetings.
  • Experience in training undergraduate medical students and postgraduate doctors.
  • Experience of participation in regular clinical audit quality improvement projects (QIP).
  • Evidence of awareness of and participation in Clinical Governance.
  • Laparoscopic surgery qualification such as the Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery ATSM, MSc/PGDip/PGCert in Advanced Gynaecological Endoscopy, or equivalent post CCT training.
  • Vulval ATSM.
  • Gynae oncology ATSM or equivalent.
  • Previous experience of supervising research by junior staff.
  • Evidence of publications relevant to the speciality.
  • Data analysis.
  • Previous attendance on Appraisal Techniques and Small Group Teaching Workshops.
  • Evidence of higher qualification or experience in Leadership or Governance.
  • QI/Governance Experience.
  • Experience working for NHSE or Network organisations or similar.

  • CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview). Portfolio Pathway (or) international applicants should comply with the GMC specialty registration process. Portfolio Pathway applicants must be on the relevant Specialist Register at the time of application.
  • Attendance at recognised management course.
  • Evidence of management experience.
