Overview

Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a substantive post: Consultant Geriatrician with a specialist interest in Stroke. The Elderly Medicine department has expanded rapidly, bringing the number of Geriatricians to fourteen. The Trust is an RCP Future Hospital exemplar site and continues to transform urgent care pathways by working with community health and social care providers and Western Cheshire CCG.

Responsibilities
  • Support Acute Frailty services, either directly or through other subspecialty support.
  • Influence rapid developments within the Acute Geriatrics Team and the wider department.
  • Operate within the job plan that rotates through General Geriatrics cover and Stroke Medicine cover as outlined in the indicative plan.
  • Work as part of an inclusive and flexible team devoted to developing services and supporting one another.

About the Department and Trust

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and Welsh patients via three locations: Countess of Chester Hospital (438 beds), Ellesmere Port Hospital (56 beds), and Tarporley War Memorial Hospital (community services base). The Trust employs over 5,916 staff and serves a population of approximately 411,000. It collaborates with wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership.

Location and Services
  • The Countess of Chester Hospital: general and acute beds
  • Ellesmere Port Hospital: rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility
  • Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: community services base for local rural population
Recruitment, DBS and Eligibility
  • Recruitment and selection at the Trust is based on competence and values.
  • Applicants must pay for their DBS check; costs may be deducted from salary in the first three months.
  • New entrants commence at the minimum of the scale.
  • Enrolment for the DBS Update Service is encouraged; annual fee applies.
  • Overseas candidates: Department of Health guidance may apply.
