Job summary

A leading NHS Trust in London is seeking two full-time Consultant Geriatricians to join their Older People’s Services team. The role offers an exciting opportunity to innovate care for older patients and develop service models. Candidates must have full GMC registration and significant experience in Geriatrics. Qualifications

Overview

Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of the Barts Health NHS Trust, is looking for two full‑time Consultant Geriatricians to join our Older People’s Services team based predominantly at the Whipps Cross Hospital site.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to join a growing team, develop new models of working and services that support all older people attending the hospital and within the local community, and help Whipps Cross Hospital become a centre for Geriatric medicine.

Main duties

These posts offer an opportunity to develop new models of working and services that support older people, join the expansion of the workforce required to revolutionise care for fragility fracture patients, and participate in the redevelopment of the hospital’s services and care pathways.

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and be on the Specialist Registrar or within 6 months of obtaining CCST.

Qualifications
  • Must be on the GMC specialist register for Geriatric Medicine or within six months of CCT
  • CESR route acceptable
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practice
Desirable Qualifications
  • Evidence of participation in research (peer reviewed publications etc.)
  • Appropriate higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD or equivalent)

  • Ability to organise and deliver a teaching programme
  • Experience in service development

  • Knowledge of multidisciplinary clinical audit and demonstrable commitment to improving quality of care to patients
