  • Manage outpatient clinics and inpatient care as Cardiologist of the Week.

Job Title: Consultant Cardiologist
Grade: Consultant
Location: West Midlands
Working Hours: Full-time, 10 PAs (with flexibility for part-time applicants)
Salary: £105,504 – £139,882 per annum

Overview

This Trust is seeking a dynamic and committed Consultant Cardiologist to join our expanding team of six cardiologists. This new post supports the development of state‑of‑the‑art services, with future plans for a CMR service. The role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of cardiology services in a supportive and forward‑thinking environment.

Typical Job Plan

A standard job plan includes:

  • 1 day/week dedicated to the new diagnostic centre
  • 1 day/week for sub‑specialty activity (e.g., stress echo, myoview, or other interests)
  • 1 in 7 weeks as “Cardiologist of the Week” – focused on inpatient care, ED support, and weekend ward rounds (Saturday and Sunday mornings)
  • Outpatient clinics: Typically 11 follow‑ups (telephone) or 3 new + 6 follow‑ups (face‑to‑face)
  • On‑call rota: 1 in 7 weekends (Friday–Sunday) and fixed weekday on‑call (not prospectively covered)
