Qualifications

  • Experience on major construction projects in a highly regulated sector with knowledge of Safe Systems of Work.
  • Experience delivering and operating at Engineer or Senior Engineer level, including work within Joint Ventures.
  • HNC qualification or equivalent vocational training and experience in installing Mechanical and Piping systems.

Job description
Overview

The Construction Engineer - Mechanical Piping HL1 role is for Cavendish Nuclear at the Hinkley Point C new nuclear build in Bridgwater, Somerset. You will work as part of the MEH Alliance, coordinating the delivery of mechanical, electrical, and cabling support services to install cabling and pipework in the power station across approximately 2,500 rooms.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage and motivate teams through best practice; support continuous improvement to improve processes and procedures; ensure compliance with all nuclear safety and site licence requirements.
  • Deliver Mechanical & Piping Construction Workpacks to support the MEH Alliance programme; demonstrate positive HSE leadership and foster a compliant HS&E culture throughout the construction life cycle.
  • Enable the use of the Procon system to support construction works and progress reporting for the MEH Alliance.
  • Enable the requesting and compliance of the MEH Alliance for the Work Authorisation and Permit systems operated by NNB.
  • Coordinate safe access routing to workfaces to support MEH Alliance construction works.
  • Enable topographical and other surveying required to support the MEH Alliance construction works.
  • Prioritise and own documentation to enable construction works as per the level 4 plan, e.g. T-3 months prior to works.
  • Ensure documents are compliant with latest works information and MEH documentation.
Essential experience
  • Experience on major construction projects in a highly regulated sector with knowledge of Safe Systems of Work.
  • Experience delivering and operating at Engineer or Senior Engineer level, including work within Joint Ventures.
Qualifications
  • HNC qualification or equivalent vocational training and experience in installing Mechanical and Piping systems.
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) clearance for this role. Further details are available from UK Government security vetting references.
