Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated Construction Buyer to join a specialist joinery & shopfitting business in Huntingdon, supplying high-end interior fit-outs across the UK. As a company, they pride themselves on bespoke restaurant, retail, office, residential and hospitality projects, delivering full interior finishes including joinery, dry-lining, metalwork, signage, lighting, ceiling details, tiling, catering equipment and full M&E.

Responsibilities
  • Procure joinery and internal construction materials (finishes, fittings, fixed furniture, etc.) for high-end interior fit-out projects across the UK
  • Source, negotiate and manage supplier contracts for both standard and bespoke materials to ensure quality, cost efficiency and reliability
  • Collaborate with design, project management, site and installation teams to ensure materials meet specification, are costed correctly, and delivered to programme
  • Forecast material requirements, monitor stock, manage purchase orders, track deliveries, and resolve supply chain issues proactively
  • Maintain and improve spend tracking, cost analysis, and procurement reporting using Excel and procurement systems
  • Ensure compliance with quality, health & safety, budget, and programme constraints
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, including benchmarking, vetting new suppliers, negotiating terms & payment schedules
Requirements
  • Prior experience in construction procurement or working for a builders\' merchant, ideally having handled internal construction materials / joinery / finishes
  • Good working knowledge of internal fit-out materials (joinery, fittings, finishes, ceiling & lighting, dry lining etc.) desirable
  • Strong ICT skills: Excel (spreadsheets, cost tracking), email communication, purchase order systems, and general IT literacy
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building ability, both with suppliers and internal teams; professional telephone manner
  • Ability to prioritise, work to tight deadlines, manage multiple project/material requirements simultaneously
  • Able to commute to Huntingdon; hybrid working arrangement offered
