Job Description

The Compliance Manager - Monitoring works with Local Compliance Officers, Compliance Managers, business units and functions to analyse compliance risk and control performance, detect control weaknesses and issues, and provide written reports to management and relevant governing bodies on the overall status of the control environment.

In particular they will be working with the UK Compliance team and Consumer business to provide oversight over Chubb’s Appointed Representatives (AR).

The role is required to;

  • Support the design and operational effectiveness of an appropriate control environment through regular testing and assessment.
  • Validate monitoring activity completed by line managers and control owners to ensure regulatory requirements are met and customer outcomes are appropriate.
  • Conduct regular in depth monitoring reviews of the Consumer business including franchise stores and call listening.
  • Provide the Consumer team with written results of this monitoring activity and advise the Regional Compliance Officer, EMEA on control improvements required.

Key deliverables will include:

  • Delivery of regular assurance reporting on ARs including issues identified, recommendations and timeline for remediation.
  • Methodology for risk rating ARs and agents
  • Development of AR monitoring standards and expectations
  • Development of new AR reporting.

The role holder will be working alongside other members of the UK Compliance team who are providing day to day advisory support to the business.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Analysis of Control Data To analyse and assess control data across the compliance risk universe, particularly in relation to the oversight of ARs.
  2. Reporting To draft detailed reports, based on the analysis and assessment of control data, regarding the effectiveness of the control environment, including any issues and concerns and agreed steps to mitigate risks outside the company’s risk appetite.
  3. Strengthening Controls Assist the business to develop and implement robust controls that meet legal, regulatory and Chubb policy requirements.
  4. Engagement To actively engage with the risk and control owners and establish collaborative working relationships to ensure the maintenance of an effective control environment.
  5. Teamwork Work collaboratively and develop strong relationships with other areas of the Legal and Compliance Team, the business and external third parties to provide support and guidance in delivering specific compliance monitoring reviews and analysis of management information.
  6. Additional Support Provide support to and carry out work as directed by the Senior Compliance Manager (Monitoring).
Qualifications
  • The candidate should have a strong knowledge of the retail insurance industry.
  • The candidate should have the ability to work alone and within a team. They should be adept at managing competing priorities with excellent time management and organisation skills. The candidate should also have strong inter-personnel skills and be skilled at communicating with the business.
  • The candidate should ideally be able to demonstrate an ability to identify issues, suggest solutions and recognise alternatives to problems as they arise to ensure Chubb manages the compliance risks to which it may be exposed.
  • Experience of working with Mobile Phone Insurance networks and of Appointed Representative management is desirable.
  • Fluent English speaking and writing.
