Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Complaints Officer to join their team in Newbury. In this role, you will provide comprehensive administrative support for accessing records and handling customer complaints. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, administrative experience, and an understanding of GDPR. This position offers a pay rate of £17.85 per hour for 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday until March 2026.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills to interact with customers.
  • Experience in administration and IT systems retrieval.
  • Ability to work within statutory timescales.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for customers making SAR requests.
  • Support keeping up to date records of Subject Access to Records.
  • Initiate the SARs process by requesting necessary information.
  • Maintain communication with customers about their requests.
  • Retrieve requested information from both electronic systems and archives.
  • Prepare files for redaction and carry out initial redactions.
  • Ensure compliance within statutory timescales.

Skills

Friendly and approachable manner with customers
Experience of using Windows and Microsoft Products
GCSE minimum grade C in English, Maths and ICT or equivalent
Previous experience of administrative duties
Ability to retrieve data accurately from various systems
Understanding of GDPR

Complaints Officer needed!

Salary: £17.85 per hour

Location: Market Street, RG14

Hours: Monday - Friday 8.30am - 5pm - 37 hours a week

Till March 2026

Job Purpose

To work as a members of the complaints and access to records team ; providing comprehensive admin support to the complaints and Access to Records Managers

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • To act as the first point of contact for customers making an Access to Records (SAR) requestTo provide support in keeping up to date records of Subject Access to Records
  • To initiate the SARs process by requesting ID and any other necessary information
  • To keep customers informed about the progress of their request.
  • To have a basic understanding of the monitoring process in respect of SARs
  • To retrieve requested information from electronic systems and WBC paper archives.
  • To arrange the file into a suitable format in preparation for redaction
  • To make use of redaction software to carry out initial redaction
  • To produce a redacted file for Quality Assurance by a senior member of staff
  • To complete all work within statutory timescales
Skills
