Job description
Overview

North East Fife Locality District Nursing Team (Ladybank/Newburgh base) is looking for a Health Care Support Worker. The role requires excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. Previous experience in the community is advantageous, as are phlebotomy skills. Patients are seen in their own homes and in care homes to deliver high quality nursing care.

Responsibilities
  • Support the District Nursing Team to deliver evidence-based treatment and care to the practice population of house bound patients.
  • Provide care to patients in their homes and in care homes with the aim of preventing unnecessary hospital admissions, enabling earliest possible discharge, and helping patients remain as independent as possible at home.
  • Contribute to the delivery of services that reflect best practice and inclusivity, with regular supervision and access to training opportunities.
  • Be available to travel across the Fife-wide division as required and provide evening cover when needed.
  • Work within a 24 hour, 7 day Community Nursing Service, including weekends and public holidays.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Excellent organisational skills, effective communication and interpersonal abilities; must be a team player and demonstrate a genuine interest in community work.
  • Previous community experience is advantageous; phlebotomy skills are desirable.
  • A suitable SVQ is desirable.
  • Must be able to travel across the Fife-wide division and provide evening cover as required.
  • Be prepared to work within a 24/7 Community Nursing Service, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Must become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.
Checks and Eligibility
