Job description
Position Details

The role is a supervisory position for Community Payback. Candidates must hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence (Category D1 Minibus) and will work on varied public projects that provide credible reparation to the community. The post holder will maintain discipline, manage risk, and support service users in acquiring employment skills.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct Pre‑Placement Unpaid Work Induction sessions.
  • Lead a daily 'tool box' talk to ensure service users understand tasks, safety practices and are motivated to complete their orders.
  • Follow work directions within the project placement file.
  • Ensure Health & Safety procedures are followed, alerting relevant staff to risks and completing required paperwork accurately and on time, including contributing to the review of placement risk assessments.
  • Ensure appropriate tools, equipment and supplies are available and safe‑use instructions are followed.
  • Conduct a dynamic risk assessment to manage all hazards.
  • Use pro‑social and other motivational techniques to ensure disciplined and well‑behaved completion of assigned work.
  • Monitor service user attendance in agency placements and promote successful completions.
  • Maintain all service users’ records in the case management system accurately and on time.
  • Work towards accreditation as a workplace assessor or deliver training assessments to provide enhanced learning opportunities.
  • Promote Community Payback with colleagues, external agencies, Sentencers and the public.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience of Practical Skills.
  • UK Manual Driving Licence – Category D1 Minibus.
  • Evidence of commitment to teamwork.
  • Effective inter‑personal skills with the ability to supervise constructively while maintaining authority.
  • Evidence of problem‑solving within a workplace or similar environment.
  • Knowledge of safety at work, public protection and risk of harm in all aspects of work.
Technical Requirements
  • Basic knowledge of First Aid and willingness to undertake further training.
  • Attain IOSH L3 or equivalent and be willing to attend further training.
  • Willing to achieve and maintain L3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement (CAVA) or equivalent.

Working Pattern

The role may include frequent weekends and evenings, with up to 7 hours supervising a group at a Community Payback unpaid work placement. Weekend and evening work are compensated at a higher rate.
