Job description

Occupational Therapist in the Adult Community - Band 6

Occupational Therapy team (ACOT). The team is integrated with Social Care and is based at Bernard Weatherill House, Croydon. The team provide OT assessments and arrange service provision for vulnerable adults living in the community.

The Band 6 OT contributes to service development and improvement. The Band 6 OT provides advice and guidance, and supervision to junior staff. The post will be within a designated area of the service i.e. Area localities, Major adaptations, or Duty and intake.

Main duties of the job
  • The postholder will be responsible for assessing the functional needs of adults in their homes and in a community setting, in line with all relevant legislation e.g. Care Act 2014 and the NHS Plan 2000, and in accordance with the Service's, the Council's and Croydon Health Services (CHS) Trust's policies and procedures.
  • To manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence based/client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
  • To provide leadership for junior staff through supervision, competencies and appraisal.
  • To participate in the planning, development and evaluation of Therapy services within a designated area/team, holding responsibility for defined projects.
  • To contribute to the maintenance and development of the trust Therapy service.
  • To regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements.
  • To participate in the rotations as assigned by your manager
