Job description

The shift pattern for this post is Monday-Thursday, 9am-5pm Friday, 9am – 4.30pm

The West Dunbartonshire Older Adults Community Mental Health Team (OACMHT) are looking to recruit a band 5 Community Mental Health Nurses to their team. As part of the OACMHT, the post holder will be responsible for managing a caseload providing comprehensive and holistic assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of health and social care needs for older adults with a variety of often complex mental health and social care issues.

As an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team the post-holder will work in partnership demonstrating compassionate caring behaviours to fulfill the key functions of the OACMHT. The post-holder is responsible for proactively promoting partnership working with patients, carers and other professionals/ agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards and clinical policies. This involves working in a variety of home/ near to home community environments.

The post holder is required to undertake duties without direct supervision as well as supporting and supervising work undertaken by more junior members of nursing staff and nursing students. Including providing caseload line management supervision and clinical supervision and undertaking line management responsibilities.

Participating in regular caseload line management supervision and Clinical Supervision are critical aspects of the role.

Supervising the practice of others, undertaking mentorship/ preceptorship responsibilities and contributing to the learning and development of the staff team are important aspects of this role.
