We are seeking a Community Engagement Officer to join our Leisure, Healthy Lifestyles & Communities team. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with residents, voluntary groups, and partner organisations to strengthen community cohesion and support local initiatives.

In this role, you will engage and collaborate with voluntary, community, and faith sector organisations across Wyre. You will support the development of local community hubs and referral processes, and you will build strong relationships with partners such as Healthier Fleetwood, Age UK Lancashire, and local community centres. You will assist with grant applications, monitoring, and evaluation to help sustain community projects, and you will organise and attend events, forums, and workshops to promote integration and wellbeing.

We are looking for someone who has a degree or equivalent experience in social work, community development, volunteer management, or a related field. You will need strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent organisational abilities, and the confidence to work independently as well as part of a team.

In return, you will join a team that values professionalism, innovation, collaboration, and customer focus. You will have the opportunity to make a real impact on the health and wellbeing of local communities and access development opportunities within a supportive working environment.

You will need a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle. You will also be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check.

Wyre Council offers a fantastic work-life balance and a supportive environment where you can grow and thrive. Benefits include:

  • Flexible working arrangements
  • 24 days annual leave (rising to 29 subject to length of service)
  • Employer pension contributions
  • Free onsite parking
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Access to occupational health and wellbeing services
