Commodity Trader – Agri-commodities

Job Overview:

An international agri-commodities trading house with over 25 years of global market presence is seeking a skilled and commercially driven Commodity Trader to support its expanding footprint across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. This is a high-impact role offering the opportunity to work with a respected trading group known for delivering value across food and feed supply chains. You'll play a key part in driving trading strategies, building relationships, and contributing to sustainable growth in emerging and established markets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and develop trading opportunities in grains, oilseeds, pulses, and animal feed markets.
  • Build and manage relationships with producers, suppliers, distributors, and buyers in target regions.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing, and supply-demand dynamics to inform trading decisions.
  • Negotiate and close profitable purchase and sales contracts.
  • Coordinate with logistics, risk, and finance teams to ensure successful trade execution.
  • Produce regular reports on trading activity, market intelligence, and forecasts.
  • Expand the trading book and support portfolio diversification across multiple commodities.
  • Conduct due diligence and assess counterparty credit risks.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in agri-commodities trading (e.g., grains, oilseeds, pulses, feed).
  • Proven ability to source, negotiate, and close international commodity deals.
  • Strong market analysis and risk evaluation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Self-starter mindset with the ability to work autonomously and meet commercial targets.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and market tracking platforms.
  • A degree in Business, Agriculture, Economics, or a relevant field is beneficial.
  • Must have access to a reliable laptop and fast internet connection for remote collaboration.
