Role

Commissioning Engineer – Hinkley Point C (Contract, Ongoing, Somerset)

Day Rate: Up to £325 p/d PAYE + 36 days annual leave (equivalent up to £57k/pa) or Up to £440 p/d Umbrella.

The Opportunity

As a Commissioning Engineer you will play a vital role in preparing, testing, and verifying systems to ensure the safe and successful start‑up of key plant areas on the UK’s first new nuclear power station in over 30 years.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to detailed planning, execution and analysis of commissioning activities.
  • Ensure systems meet safety, performance, and quality requirements before operational handover.
  • Collaborate with contractors, installation teams, operations and project engineers to resolve technical challenges.
  • Capture data, analyse results, and document commissioning progress and outcomes.
  • Participate in continual improvement initiatives, applying lessons learned to enhance performance.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years’ experience in commissioning, operations or engineering project delivery.
  • Strong problem‑solving, logical thinking and communication skills.
  • Experience with testing, handover and plant readiness.
  • Commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement.
  • Hands‑on commissioning experience, exposure to design or site‑based work within a regulated sector (pharmaceutical, petrochemical, oil & gas, chemical etc.) is highly valuable.
