A leading energy sector firm is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to take on key responsibilities within high-voltage transmission projects. This role involves leading and coordinating commissioning activities, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring seamless project transitions. The successful candidate will have a proven background in transmission substations and NG ESO/NGET experience. This is a 12-month contract offering £860 per day, with remote working options and periodic site visits.

  • Diagnose and resolve protection circuit issues.
  • Create detailed commissioning switching programs and schedules.
  • Report weekly to senior management.

Are you a seasoned Commissioning Engineer with a passion for high‑voltage transmission projects? Ready to take on a high‑impact role with a leading name in the energy sector?

We’re looking for a Commissioning Engineer to join a major infrastructure programme, starting ASAP. This is a 12‑month contract with a day rate of £860 (Inside IR35 via PAYE Umbrella).

🔧 What you’ll be doing :
  • Leading commissioning activities from Practical Completion (PC) to energisation.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders in joint commissioning meetings.
  • Liaising with the ESO for EON / ION requirements.
  • Ensuring seamless transition from construction to commissioning.
  • Applying and restoring protection settings during commissioning.
  • Diagnosing and resolving protection circuit issues.
  • Creating detailed commissioning switching programs and schedules.
  • Reporting weekly to senior management.
🎯 What you’ll bring :
  • Proven experience as a Lead Commissioning Engineer.
  • Strong background in transmission substations.
  • Hands‑on experience with NG ESO / NGET.
  • NG Persons authorisation – highly desirable.

📍 Location : Remote‑based with flexibility for site and vessel visits, plus occasional travel to the Glasgow office.

🛡️ Clearance Required : BPSS (DBS / DS, Financial Probity, Employment History), Medical Questionnaire, and Proof of Right to Work in the UK.
