Job summary

A leading journalism organization is looking for a Commissioning Editor for their Labs team to commission and produce branded content across various channels. The ideal candidate should possess experience in commissioning/editing, an understanding of multimedia content, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. They will work with a diverse range of contributors and engage with clients and advertising agencies to ensure all content aligns with the organization's values. This role is hybrid, requiring both in-office and remote work.

Qualifications

  • Experience in print and digital commissioning/editing in a features, news and/or commercial environment.
  • Demonstrable knowledge or interest in social and multimedia content.
  • Experience with production, sub-editing and content management systems.
  • Experience of using web analytics tools.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, adapting to rapidly changing circumstances.

We are now looking for a Commissioning Editor to join the Guardian Labs team for a 12 month fixed term contract or internal secondment. You’ll commission and produce branded content from a diverse range of contributors for Guardian channels, including print, digital and social.

You’ll work with clients, advertising agencies and the wider Labs team to translate brand objectives into compelling content in line with the Guardian’s values and editorial standards.

About the role
  • Commissioning, researching, creating and editing branded content from a diverse range of contributors - from print and digital articles to social campaigns
  • Working with influencers, journalists and agents on interviews and collaborations
  • Working on advertising pitches to ensure high‑quality, varied ideas across all Guardian formats that adhere to Guardian values
  • Using data to deliver the best for our audience and our clients
  • Attending pitches and client meetings in person and remotely, including presenting ideas
  • Working with clients, advertising agencies and the wider department to ensure work matches the high Guardian standard and values, and translates brand objectives into compelling content

We operate in a hybrid environment working 3 days a week from our offices in Kings Cross and 2 days a week remotely.

You’ll have 30 days of annual leave per year (plus bank holidays) with the option to purchase an additional 5 days.
