Job description

A leading commercial law firm is seeking an experienced Commercial Tech & Media lawyer (4+ PQE) to join its Bristol team.

Bristol is a key focus for the firm, recognised for its talent, innovation, and growing client base. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-value matters while building a long-term career outside London.

The team advises on a broad range of commercial, technology, IP, and data protection matters. Clients include top universities, research institutions, fast-growing tech businesses, and established commercial companies. The successful candidate will draft and negotiate contracts, manage IT projects, advise on IP licensing and technology transfer, and support clients with data privacy and GDPR compliance. Opportunities exist to develop expertise in areas such as life sciences, fintech, digital health, and emerging technologies.

The Bristol team is collaborative and well-connected across the UK, providing the chance to work with colleagues in other offices while maintaining close client relationships. The role offers responsibility for managing your own matters, supporting partners on larger projects, and shaping a personal area of focus.

The ideal candidate will have strong commercial experience, excellent drafting skills, and confidence in client-facing work. While 4+ PQE is preferred, applications from candidates with slightly more or less experience are welcome.

This is an opportunity to join a leading law firm that is investing in Bristol as a hub for commercial technology work, offering high-quality matters and long-term career potential.
