Commercial Manager - Transmission & Renewables

Location: South Wales/ South West England.
Role Type: Permanent/ Hybrid, 3 days in the office, occasional travel required.

Turner Lovell is recruiting an experienced Contract Commercial Manager to join a leading EPC Contractor with a turnover exceeding 1 billion in the electricity and renewable energy sector. Following the award of multi-year framework agreements, the company is expanding its team to deliver turnkey HV substation projects across the UK, ranging from 20 million to 150 million.

Role Summary

You'll take a key commercial leadership role across a portfolio of high-voltage and energy infrastructure projects. This includes overseeing commercial planning, managing risk, strengthening financial performance, and supporting the successful delivery of substation and transmission works.

Main Responsibilities
  • Set the commercial approach for regional projects and tenders, ensuring consistency, control, and strong financial outcomes.
  • Guide and develop the commercial team, helping them grow their technical and commercial capability.
  • Work closely with Project and Finance teams to produce accurate forecasts, monitor cash flow, and report performance.
  • Review tender documents, highlight risks and opportunities, and present clear commercial recommendations.
  • Manage procurement activities and ensure all contracts meet required standards and governance.
  • Build effective relationships with clients and suppliers, helping resolve issues and supporting future work opportunities.
  • Promote high standards of safety, quality, and performance across all commercial activity.
Requirements
  • Experienced commercial professional with a background in infrastructure, utilities, or energy projects.
  • Confident working with major contract forms such as NEC3/4, JCT, and FIDIC.
  • Degree-qualified, with strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Skilled in contract review, commercial reporting, and project control processes.
  • Proven ability to lead, support and develop a commercial team.
  • Hold a UK driving licence and be comfortable travelling to sites within the region.
