Job description
Role Overview

The Commercial Manager will report directly to the Senior Commercial Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for providing full-cycle commercial support for digital and outsourced services, ensuring compliant sourcing, effective contract management, and delivering value for money across key programmes. You’ll help shape sourcing strategies, negotiate commercial agreements, and manage stakeholder relationships to enable successful delivery of services that improve financial wellbeing for people across the UK.

You’ll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to helping people across the UK improve their financial wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sourcing:
  • Identify suitable frameworks and approaches for sourcing digital, cloud-based, and professional services requirements.
  • Recommend best routes to market and run compliant award procedures at pace.
  • Complete governance processes effectively.
  • Commercial Contract Management:
  • Manage contractual changes, ensuring adherence to processes and accurate cost models.
  • Conduct financial negotiations for contract changes, maintaining commercial advantage.
  • Review and amend contract documents, including service level agreements and statements of work.
  • Engage and manage stakeholders throughout the process.
Experience and Skills

You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • MCIPS or equivalent such as IACCM/WCC or equivalent relevant experience or accreditation
  • Solid public sector commercial experience and experience selecting and using public sector frameworks efficiently and compliantly
  • Proven track record of working effectively with service delivery teams, business managers and project managers to ensure service objectives are achieved
  • Strong and demonstrable experience of commercial management at a senior level (ideally at least 5 years’ experience in similar roles)
  • Ability to run and/or supervise compliant and pragmatic sourcing activity at pace without creating procurement risk

Desirable:

  • Experience across relevant categories – digital experience would be beneficial, but we also welcome strong generalist expertise in other categories, even where digital exposure is limited.

Flexible Working

MaPS operates on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Hybrid working is voluntary, non-contractual, and Bedford is your contractual place of work. Any opportunities for hybrid working will be discussed with you prior to starting.
