Job description

Location: Nairobi and Homa Bay, Kenya (12-18 months); Tanzania (long-term)

Reports To: Sales Operations Director

Employment Type: Full-Time

Role summary

We seek a self‑starter Commercial Manager to drive the sales growth of an innovative tilapia farm. The successful candidate will be data‑driven, creatively build commercialization plans, and methodically execute plans to achieve business results. This will include opening new branches, building relationships for other sales channels, allocating stock, and executing an effective price list. This role is intended to become a founding member of a new Victory business unit in Tanzania. The role will first be based in Kenya for a 12 to 18‑month period of on‑the‑job learning and development. Following this period, in the first half of 2026, the role will permanently transition to Tanzania.

Key Responsibilities

  • Successfully deliver the set targets month‑over‑month by taking ownership and ensuring the same through the chain of ownership in the sales department.
  • Replicate existing processes in new settings; set up teams to consistently execute with operational accuracy.
  • Train team to ensure the commercial organization is strong enough to meet future growth.
  • Implement tracking and ownership mechanisms along the value chain that promote low spoilage and variances.
  • Operate a sales incentive system, with strong understanding among the team.
  • Use of data to forecast market behavior relevant to our business (competitor movements, customer insights, pricing, etc.); find market opportunities based on back‑casting and forecasting.
  • Organise marketing campaigns in the different regions to increase market awareness of the products; promote the visibility and reputation of the products and brand.
  • Communicate regularly with senior management about the status of projects and issues that could impact performance.
  • Negotiate contracts and leases with vendors, suppliers, and other third parties, as related to commercial efforts.

Required qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in sales.
  • Leadership ability and dedicated learning mindset – able to replicate processes in a new environment.
  • Impeccable track record of integrity, with ability to demonstrate through objective validation (e.g., data tracking and reports preparation across production, logistics, and commercial departments).
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and achieving revenue growth.
  • Proven track record of operating within departmental budgets.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business field, economics, or psychology.
