Overview
Mercer is seeking a talented Commercial Director (Sales), UK & Ireland to join our Global Benefits Management team in Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB). Based in London, this is a hybrid role that requires working at least three days a week in the office.
As a Commercial Director (Sales) for Global Benefits Management, you will be responsible for growing our business by winning new, profitable clients across the UK and Ireland. You will manage the sales cycle end-to-end, from pre-sale through presentation, close, contracting and hand-over to Client Excellence.
You will collaborate with key stakeholders across Marsh McLennan (MMC), generating leads via internal channels and distribution networks to establish win-win relationships on regional and global bases with leading multinational companies.
Responsibilities
- Build and execute a proactive sales strategy in cooperation with the UK&I Regional Commercial Leader across the UK & Ireland
- Drive increased revenue and profitability in support of MMB growth targets
- Execute sales disciplines and best practices
- Identify external and internal referral sources and proactively partner with champions to generate new opportunities
- Work with global and local Client Managers, Consultants, Growth Leaders and CEOs to identify new GBM targets
- Utilize information sources internally and externally to gather data to position MMB to succeed in the market
- Lead global sales opportunities, manage virtual teams of pre-sales, consultants, client managers and senior stakeholders, balancing local autonomy with global programs
- Participate in internal and external events and conferences to enhance the reputation and increase opportunities for MMB
- Provide market feedback to leadership regarding competitor offerings, prospect needs and generate product development ideas
- Manage the sales process and discipline for own opportunities, including development of core presentations, graphics and pipeline reporting, in line with GBM Commercial and Sales Team protocols, supported by an established pre-sales and Bid Management team
- Monitor competitors and review MMB’s offering in light of competitor developments
What you need to have
- You will be an accomplished sales director with a track record of exceeding sales targets
- Proven experience of outstanding sales success in a consultative sales role
- Demonstrable track record of selling complex, large value, multinational, multi-year contracts
- Experience in selling to HR or Risk & Insurance (or related fields) buyers
- Strong gravitas and presence to influence and build collaborative relationships with senior stakeholders
- Experience of working effectively in a cross-cultural/cross-time zone environment for multiple stakeholders and audiences, including with virtual high-performing teams
- Comfortable working in a hybrid and flexible environment, being self-motivated and autonomous whilst retaining close contact with the broader global team
- Fluent in English; additional languages are a bonus given the global nature of the role
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Flexibility in regards to traveling across the region and globally
- Competency in Microsoft Office and Salesforce
