Purpose
Lead on landowner negotiations in new joint venture opportunities for the ScottishPower Renewables (SPR) Onshore team. Work closely with internal stakeholders—including Corporate Development, Legal, Tax, Compliance and Control—to negotiate complex landowner contracts, propose commercial solutions, and support the SPR team through contract negotiation, completion and approvals.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate landowner contracts and manage Joint Venture agreements, ensuring governance arrangements are complied with.
- Collaborate with Corporate Development and other internal departments to develop governance arrangements, manage approval processes (including funding requests), and facilitate meetings.
- Lead on securing a route to market for onshore renewable assets, with a focus on Contracts For Difference (CFD) auctions, qualified site selection, commercial bid strategy and market analysis.
- Lead on Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) in the UK and Ireland for onshore assets, including third‑party PPAs for Joint Venture assets and other offtake contracts.
- Support acquisition and divestment opportunities, collating market data, providing competitor intelligence and assisting Corporate Development through due diligence and contract negotiation.
- Lead the administration and bidding of SPR assets in the Capacity Market across the UK and Ireland, developing new revenue streams through ancillary services.
- Prepare management reports, budgets and forecasts, including competitor analysis and industry trend monitoring.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of physical delivery capabilities, transmission tariffs, operating procedures and the physical capabilities of assets.
- Identify business opportunities and services for new and existing assets in collaboration with Global Energy Management and Global Energy Market.
- Serve as internal and external expert on market competition, regulatory changes, and operational & development asset strategy.
Qualifications
- Degree level in Business, Accountancy, Economics, Finance or a related field.
- Exceptional financial and analytical skills with strong commercial acumen.
- Experience analysing complex issues and identifying solutions in business opportunities.
- Solid understanding of economic fundamentals, energy markets and renewable generation.
- Appreciation of commercial agreements and negotiations.
- High IT literacy, proficient with MS Office systems.
- Excellent communication skills, including report writing, presentation, and the ability to speak confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
